Preparing for interviewing Håkon Kornstad on Sunday night
Håkon Kornstad? Wibutee.
Sage words of advice from James:
I think the key thing about interviewing, as kevin said, is being as well acquainted with the music as possible. It’s worth remembering what you what to get out of it: what will the audience you are writing for – rather than you – want to know about them; that should form the basis of your questions. If it’s a phone interview – which I presume it must be – I’d record it. There’s no doubt that the conversation will go down roads you don’t expect or want it to. Enjoying it is important. The other thing too is that there is so much information out there about them already be it biographical, critical etc, that you really want to get something original out of the interviewee; some new information or perhaps something controversial. This isn’t always easy.
