Meeting Mr Kornstad
I’m currently tasked with writing a 1000 word feature on Wibutee for Signal to Noise magazine. I’d already been sent a review copy of Playmachine by Hakon when I asked him for an interview. He said he was in town for a flying visit and so we met up had a Malaysian in Chinatown then wandered around looking for a place for a drink. We ended up at the ICA and luckily managed to get in despite it being closed for a gig for which we were offered free tix (well the price of a pint to the guy on the door at any rate) – Interpol – all black ties and black shirts, sharp suits, loads of energy and pure early 80s new wave. Didn’t manage to interview Hakon in the end as a couple of his English friends turned up. Still we’ll do it via email though I wish I’d made the time earlier in the evening. I had a really nice time despite feeling rather shy about meeting someone completely new. He was a really nice chap, would be nice to stay in touch, but we’ll see how things pan out.
