Ruminations on the Back In Your Town reportage
Pete writes:
It’s interesting that it’s a bit like reportage; you’re tracing a series of events that unfold over time, all of which are a bit subjective/abstract.
I didn’t get round to writing up my notes until yesterday and the result is part of wanting to do it that way and part not having the time to think around the music. I guess in order to achieve the latter I’d have to interview the curators… Reportage may be your polite way of saying it’s a bit like a football commentator describing a match on radio without hearing the match summing up at the end! Not great, but better than nothing perhaps.
My memory of it is such that i can identify which bits you’re talking about (particularly sager’s whistling – what was that about?
Couldn’t work out whether it was a deliberate windup or he was genuinely trying to inject something virtually unmusical into the music.
