Couple more ideas regarding the iTunes interface

How about:

  • Retain playlists on left, but when a playlist is selected it displays the album covers for all available albums – this reinserts a visual element into a too-uniform, text-based experience. Double-clicking the album would hide the album overview and display just the details of that album.
  • If you purchase an mp3 album online, you should get a good quality jpg of all the album covers – this should display when the album cover is double clicked as suggested above. (After all, if you’ve got the bandwidth to download megabytes of sound, a couple more for the graphics wouldn’t do any harm.)
  • In the same way that you can choose an mp3 to display when you create a slideshow in iPhoto, you should be able to choose a photo album as Visualiser in iTunes
