Quoted in Patrick Forge’s liner notes to As One’s Planetary Folklore (1997):
“… Max Roach’s LP “Members Don’t Get Weary”… I pull out the record and proceed to read the sleevenotes by the legendary Ed Williams: he obviously came to the same conclusion: trying to explain music is a fool’s game and I bow to his thirty year old wisdom. (Music) “doesn’t need to be explained - it speaks with an eloquent clarity all its own. Wise men will not try to speak for it, but will listen to what it has to say.” Enough said.”
