Ups and downs
After a lot of much appreciated advice from Dan, Isobel, Doug, Brett and Alice I sent off the following review to The Wire: Mark Van Hoen.
In response Reviews Editor of The Wire, David Stubbs wrote:
Hi, Colin – I thought this read very nicely. Just one thing – at 189 words, it’s a little short for what we use in The Wire. (Sorry, I may have given you the wrong word count). Could you bump it up to 250?
Colin’s heart leaps, raises fists in the air, etc. Submits expanded review. A couple of days later he chases for acknowledgement of receipt and in response receives from Reviews Editor of The Wire, David Stubbs:
Hi, Colin – thanks for expanded review. Still reads very nicely to me – however, I’ll be passing it on to other editors for them to have a look at, in case they have any comments.
Colin feels crestfallen, annoyed, frustrated at his powerlessness, makes sound something like “gggggrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh”
