Hallelujah!

A month ago I’d received what felt something of a knockback from The Wire – reviews editor David Stubbs had written that he liked the review, but when I wrote back assuming that his response was tantamount to acceptance of my Mark Van Hoen review, it transpired that he still had to send it on to other unnamed editors for approval. Today I finally screwed up the courage to enquire again and received the following response:

Hi, Colin – sorry, was guiltily thinking of you this morning en route to work! Your review won’t appear in this issue due to a backlog but I will endeavour to get it in the one after. In the meantime, I’ll think of something else for you to do.

I won’t count this particular chicken until I actually see my name in The Wire, but it’s pretty chuff-inducing news.
