What’s this?

The label reads: “Burroughs Adding-Listing Machine. A few years after the success of Felt’s Comptometer, another American inventor, W S Burroughs, finally produced a practicable design for a full-keyboard, adding-listing machine. The company which he founded eventually became the largest manufacturer of adding-listing machines in the world. Shown here is an early machine which was used at the head office of Barclays Bank from 1897 to 1913.”
(We visited the Science Museum en famille today.)
