L’Ami de Mon Amie

Or My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, as the rather more prosaic translation has it. I think this has just gone to the top of my admittedly incomplete list of Eric Rohmer favourites, beating The Green Ray and Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle. Here’s to Blanche and Lea and Fabien and Alexandre: may you live happily ever after in your celluloid world that’s so much closer and more convincing to our own than most other films. Charming and ultimately very moving.
