A Canticle For Liebowitz
Just finished this noteworthy novel, the second book I’ve read in the past three years that has touched directly upon faith/religion; the other being E.L. Doctorow’s City Of God (which I think I need to reread). I’m left with a sense of a subject much larger, much sterner than that with which I’m normally familiar with. I would like to read more in this vein, but have no idea where to begin. Both the aforementioned books are written from a doubting, but resolutely non-aestheist, perspective and it’s this viewpoint that I find attractively sympathetic.
