Audioscrobbler…

Been waiting just a tad impatiently for the newly redesigned Audioscrobbler website to appear - and I’ve just checked and it’s up. The fun ad-derived humour remains at the bottom of the page, currently it’s “I think therefore I Audioscrobbler”. And I’ve just noticed that the ‘what you get when you sign up’ list on the top right lists mundane usual stuff, but at the bottom it says “a pony”. Nice. I like the design, definitely moving away from the del.icio.us techy approach. The top albums doesn’t appear to be working at the moment, I hoped that they’d been capturing album data at the same time as they grabbed track data, but from the looks of the page it doesn’t look like it.

Ooh - exciting (at least for sad trainspotter types like me) - the top artists page actually lists everything, not just the top 20 or 50 or whatever. The chart selector is a lot more configurable in general - lots more subpages which should save their servers from grinding so much. My preference always was some kind of client-side app that just uploaded stats at a user-determined interval, but I guess that might entail a lot more headaches in maintenance/upgrades. Having said that the pages are proving pretty slow to load, might be a case of server’s needing to catch up on cacheing or being hit by curious users like myself. Nice little open/close panels at the side of pages. Changed URL, no audioscrobbler.com, now it’s last.fm. And there’s a journal, not sure how much I’ll use that, if at all, rather like the groups in fact.

Should I change my photo now? Hmmm…
