Favourite album covers

There was a thread on Dissensus asking for readers to submit their three favourite album covers. Over on ILM, there’s a thread asking for album covers where the artist is portrayed with a car. The combination of these two themes in my case throws up one of my all time favourites. The image perfectly communicates (at least to me) the discomfort and alienation of contemporary life - Peter Gabriel’s sits in his pristine, anonymous car, dry but divorced from nature, disconnected, uncomfortable, alienated. Is he slumped unconscious or dreaming of release? It’s an image that stays with me. The window reflects the stormy sky. It’s another classic Hypgnosis cover. The next three Gabriel covers were pretty amazing too:
