Although the chair of the interview said he’d get in touch by Christmas, my hopes have fallen from their heady heights as I would have thought I’d be contacted the following day if I’d been successful. I would have loved that job. Sigh.

I dunno. What about the possibility of other candidates, need for consensus, reference checks, and other possible human resource issues that bog down hiring practices?
Thanks Doug! There is that possibility, but I guess I’m so keen and was so surprised at how well I thought the interview went that I’m now trying to prepare myself for disappointment. I know there are different practices, but for the most part when I’ve been part of an interview process we interview up to a maximum of six candidates and decide the next day. I still have a chance, but with each passing work day it’s reducing. I did ask someone about good luck charms and she said something about letting a pink candle burn down – couldn’t find one though!
I think it is not uncommon to have some kind of delay between an interview and finding out. I’ve even seen a couple of weeks pass between first and last interview in some instance. Not easy for the nerves though…

I’ve been writing this blog for quite a lot longer than three years and now I’m finally getting round to writing something in the About page. But what to write?
