5.56am pt.2 (Howard Fine)

This single post, written a little over two years ago, that referred both to my German friends Andy and Flo who I’d lost touch with and to a brilliant couple of albums by the Stroer Duo, the latter with American poet Howard Fine, has proved remarkable for me. Some months after penning it, Flo emailed me after idly Googling his name and we’ve remained intermittently in touch. I hope one day to meet up with them again. And, remarkably, a couple of days ago Howard Fine himself got in touch. He’s apparently discussing a follow-up with the Stroers. When I manage to digitise the record I’ll post up a couple of songs, as I’ve written in my comment response to him, I’d love to write a piece about their work together. I hope he gets back in touch. It’s a shame that their work isn’t more widely known, there’s virtually nothing online about them, apart from a Gemm listing of each album priced at $46. My post is the only other reference. (Worryingly, its Google listing leads to a 404 error on my site because of my transfer to WordPress away from Blogger. This does make me wonder whether the dynamic serving of content would mitigate against such discoveries in future.)
