Recent arrivals, lovely designs
Following on those book covers, here are some recent acquisitions/review copies that have been rocking my eyes. First up, I hunted down a fairly rare copy of the now out of print Dock Boggs CD. It’s on Revenant comes with a lengthy essay by Greil Marcus and lots of lovely design details:

Next up, one of John Fahey’s final releases again on Revenant (the label he co-founded of course). The design verges on the breathtaking. I can’t help but think that some of the cues come, consciously or otherwise from Joseph Beys, which would somehow be entirely fitting, at least to my mind:

The three excellent volumes on contemporary CD packaging by former Intro director Adrian Shaughnessy and designer Julian House completely miss Revenant, Dust To Digital and their kin. Perhaps it’s not viewed as cutting-edge or the music isn’t electronic and therefore outside the books’ remit. More to follow.
