John Fahey on video

Of the million/billion/? videos on YouTube, there is one – just one – of the late, very great John Fahey. It’s clearly from the 60s, he looks so different, yet like a memory of what he would look like a couple of decades later. His brief performance of a song from The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death is mesmerising, the interview afterwards rivetting, but for all the wrong reasons… Watch it while you can – I’m gutted to report that the brilliant video of Ornette Coleman and Prime Time performing on an American chatshow (can’t recall which one) has been removed for copywrite reasons. There’s now no video of Ornette on YouTube. A crime.
