Goodbye Ligeti

Lygeti smiling

Is has just told me the news. I can’t help but imagine you out there already, a part of the deep nightsky, the twinkle in your eye now merged with myriad starlight. I’m listening to your Requiem as I write. It’s as astonishing now as when I first heard it at the Royal Festival Hall those years ago. I sat transfixed then, resisting the urge to snarl like an animal at the roiling unearthliness that pervaded the auditorium from the stage.
