Re: Michael Smith’s Mi-Cyaan Believe It

Dear Basic Channel,

Would you consider reissuing Michael Smith’s ‘Mi C-Yaan Believe It’? It’s never been reissued on CD and fetches high prices on eBay for the original vinyl version. Mi C-Yaan Believe It is a fascinating work and the only release by an artist whose life was tragically cut short. I’ve written about it here. I’m assuming you know the album, but in case you don’t I’ve posted mp3s in the comments.

I have no connection with the artist or his family, but I do believe this is striking music that deserves to be heard more widely and serve as an epitaph for the man’s life. If you don’t think this is something that any of your family of labels would be suitable for, I’d be very grateful if you could suggest anybody else who might. Many thanks for your time (and all the brilliant music you put out!)
