re Grime 2, it does Gutta, it does.

re women in electronic music, Mary Anne Hobbs is the resident champion of Dubstep etc on BBC Radio 1 and name behind the pretty good Warrior Dubz compilation. Jungle had DJ Rap and drum'n'bass had Nicolette, there are probably a lot of others, but they do appear to be relatively few and far between.

With regards to women, dubstep seems to fall into the same trap that every other sector of electronic music out there: its generally a boys only club, and the appreciation (so to speak) comes to nothing more than a breathy vocal contribution from a 'siren.' This is probably most blatant with trip hop, but every sector of electronic music is plagued by this fact. While not limited to electronic music (metal has a similar problem), electronic music definitely high lights this fact.

yes, Burial more closely alligned to Rhythm & Sound, with all the crackle and distressed textures...and Burial Mix label too...

no female producers spring to mind, but there is an element of female appreciation for the music - it's not excusive to the lads. 'Women Respond To Bass', as Renegade Soundwave once postulated.

Grime 2 sounds pretty weak now, doesn't it?
