Another day, another 100 iPod cases appear on the market, I know, but these are clearly a little bit special. The picture above shows a case made out of Martha and the Muffins’ Echo Beach 7″ single. Others have been made from Aretha Franklin’s I Say A Little Prayer. KC and the Sunshine Band’s Shake Your Booty, Tiffany Could’ve Been. Something inside me has just died. I’m still baffled as to intended statement for these cases– homage or irreverence? Does “Echo Beach” really elicit the same disregard as “Rock Me Amadeus”, “Puppy Love” or (eesh) “Church Of The Poison Mind”?
What does impress, however, is the notion that the centre hole for 45s is the same diameter as the iPod click-wheel. Could this have been Apple’s intent? Brilliant!

Doug, you don’t seem as filled with horror as me. I suspect intended statement = $. I like the way you’re thinking of wielding an old Culture Club single like a talismanic severed head might have been wielded by a medieval enemy.

I’ve been writing this blog for quite a lot longer than three years and now I’m finally getting round to writing something in the About page. But what to write?
