I wouldn't claim to be an expert Scott, but the focus on beats might be a bit of a distraction. Your take on their music may be determined by your take on, for example, Sun Ra as a whole rather than specific details - what's uncomfortable initially can be accommodated by a wider perspective maybe? (I don't mean that in a funny way).

Whilst writing, I just saw the Guardian review - the author doesn't even recognise the signature encore and claims that they didn't play anything from their back catalogue - ouch!

Not unless I've developed a German accent! I'd love to hear a new album, although I worry about their inclination - clearly demonstrated at this concert - to update their sound, incorporating what they think to be more "modern" sounding beats, which actually end up sounding a bit dated. As you clearly have a lot more knowledge of their more recent (individual) works - should I be giving them a bit more credit?

Scott - was that you shouting??
Gutter - I didn't realise you were such a Harmonia fan. I'd be surprised if their odyssey stopped there. I'd expect more gigs and hopefully a new release - fingers crossed!

I wondered if I'd see you there, looks like you were a fair bit further back than me. Still, there wasn't a great deal to see - or even to hear at some points, I thought (I was probably one of the frustrated you refer to). Loved Immer Wieder at the end though.
